Perak, get ready to party! The only thing developing faster than Taiping is its music scene. Hometown bands are ready to rock at the Taiping Sentral Indie Fest. Melastik Bintang, Daily Flavoured Tunes, Aifaband, Colours and Batman will be performing, with Flirts opening the festival. There will also be a special appearance by comedy/indie act Marionexxes.

Gegey Fest ’09 is set to be an all-out, extreme, brutally awesome assault on your senses as 16 metal bands from Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia congregate for a day of head-banging, moshing and intense music. Think you’re hardcore enough?
Massacre Conspiracy, Restraint, Black Territory, The Padangs, Daarchela, Love As Arson, The Eightyfour, Naratu, Second Combat, Ana Four Craig and Arheum Revert will be rocking out Malaysian style. Whilst Ebony’s Call, For Better Endings and Vermillion will be representing Singapore. Straight Answer and Thirteen will be serving up that distinct Indonesian flavour!

The event’s theme is “Get up! Stand up! Stand up for your rights!” (inspired by the Bob Marley song ‘Get Up, Stand Up’) and it will be held next Saturday. With performances by Mei Chern, Rozaimin, Shock System, Komplot, Couple, Dum Dum Tak and 2nd Floor To Jump, the event will be a day filled with rockin’ music and spirited urbanites. A short documentary will also be screened on the day titled Mari Kita Beractivism!, produced by KOMAS and Big Pictures Production.
